How often is the dog park good for dogs?

My 6 month AB/Lab mix LOVES going to the dog park. We take her a couple times a week. But my husband wants to take her more often, I’m personally afraid she will pick up bad habits.

I have heard other dog owners say that their dog has become defensive or aggressive after incidents at a dog park. She has such a sweet and mild tempermant now and I worry she will change having too much interaction with some of these dogs. What do you think?

Small Dog Breeders, I need your help! I love animals and want to know how to start breeding small dogs?

I am looking for something that I can do that I will love and enjoy. I love animals most of all dogs and theres nothing like having babies to take care of. My mother in law breeds exotic bird and I know that she loves it, I just need some great web sites to look at and some starter tips. What do I need? How much do shots and registered papers cost? Where do you buy breeding dogs? How many pups can a small breed of a dog have in one litter?

What do dog groomers use to make dogs smell so good?

This is going to sound like a weird question, but how do dog groomers get the dogs to have that certain smell – I can’t explain it, but every dog groomer I’ve ever been to has made my dogs smell the same way. I love it :) Is there a certain shampoo or spray that they use?

What toy breed dog would be good to get for a beginner dog owner who is afraid of dogs and their bark?

I get scared when larger breed dogs growl or bark.
I got attacked by a corgi before and certain breeds make me nervous, but the breeds that I like are : Maltese, poodles, schnauzers, pugs and miniature mutts.

Also, due to a mild allergy, dogs with coarse hair like labs tend to make my skin itch. Yet, poodles and cavalier king Charles spaniels and those breeds mentioned above didn’t make me itch.

How do I stop my dog attacking other dogs?

Whenever I go for a walk with my dog, a Jack russell cross, he tries to attack other dogs. I got him from a cats and dogs home a couple of months ago. I like to let him off for a run around because he has a lot of energy. Most of the time there’s another dog in the field and he runs off to it. He won’t come if I call him if there’s another dog and he tries to attack it. A couple of dogs he seems fine with, he sniffs them, then he suddenly tries to attack him. I want to let him off for a run around but theres nowhere else I can do that apart from the field. I want to do something before he gets hurt.

How does a dogs social structure work as a pet within a standard human family?

I was lead to believe that most dogs view the humans their most commonly around in much the same way as they’d view other dogs they’d be around in the wild, kind of like a pack. What position within that pack does the family dog give view itself? Does it consider itself to be a member of the pack (family), or does the dog view the family as being members of the dogs pack, and thus the dog views itself as the leader?

Should all dogs over 40 pounds be required to be fixed?

First of all. I am an animal and dog lover. The shelters are overpopulated by large unwanted dogs millions of which are euthanized everry year. Most shelters will have very few if any small dogs and most have a long adoption waiting list for small dogs.
Large dogs have two or three times the number of pups per birth than small dogs do.
So there is clearly a very serious problem with large dog overpopulation.
In addition, large stray dogs acan be a serious danger resulting in thousands of serious hospitalized dog maulings every year.
So should all large dogs be required to be fixed by one year old unless it belongs to a licensed dog breeder?
Again SMALL DOGS are not the problem. In fact there is a shortage of them judging by the shelters long waiting lists for adoption so that is obviously a waste of time and resources. It is the large dogs who have 10-12 pups per litter vs small dogs 3-4 pups per litter.
